Country Program

Uganda is the country hosting the highest number of refugees on the African continent.

The overarching objective of our Country Strategy is “working with vulnerable communities in Uganda and with people on the move”, including refugees, IDPs and host communities.

LWF Uganda provides emergency assistance to refugees of conflict in neighboring countries. We provide water sanitation and hygiene assistance, shelter, social protection, psychosocial support, environmental conservation, sexual reproductive health and livelihoods to refugees from South Sudan in Palorinya, Palabek, Rhino, Imvepi and Adjumani settlements and refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Kyangwali, Rwamwanja, Kyaka and Nakivale refugee settlements.

We strive to alleviate poverty, resettle those displaced as a result of the insurgency, and elevate the standards of living of both refugees and Ugandans. As embedded in our mission, we seek to eradicate human suffering by supporting people to access basic needs, achieve their full potential, and claim their universal rights.
