We believe that equitable access to quality services, such as education, water, energy, and health care, is a right that must be claimed by women and men, girls and boys to enjoy a better quality of life, to claim and access their human rights and to fulfill their full potential.

The LWF promotes relationship-building in the communion of churches, nurtures Lutheran identities in diverse contexts, and encourages mutual learning and support among members.

World Service aims to empower and make people and communities more resilient and economically self-reliant through increasing and protecting assets, building capacities, and promoting productive activities to sustain their basic needs and diversify their income.

World Service’s protection and social cohesion goal is to enable individuals and communities to live safe, dignified, and empowered lives, free from all forms of discrimination, abuse, and exploitation.

World Service supports refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) who, for a shorter or longer period, are unable to return to their homes

In 2022, the LWF spent 85 percent of its total operating expenses in initiatives that directly benefited people confronted with varying humanitarian need, and in strengthening the churches’ capacity for holistic mission.
