Lutheran Identity Study Process

Phase 1 Addis Consultation

Full Report and Lessons Learned

The LWF has a rich history of theological study processes on what it means to be churches in the Lutheran tradition and how this relates to biblical interpretation, worship, and justice for marginalized people and the Earth, among other topics.

A new study process has begun. From 2019 until 2022 the LWF will engage its member churches in exploring how their shared Lutheran identity is lived out in the local church contexts.

This report summarizes the outcomes and finding of the first phase of this process, a global consultation held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in October 2019, and preparations for the next phase.
