Liberated by God's Grace

The Lutheran World Federation’s theme for the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation, Liberated by God’s Grace, is linked to the doctrine of justification by faith, which has also been called “the doctrine by which the church stands or falls”. In Christ, God’s grace is given to us as a free and unconditional gift. The essays in these booklets explore the topicality and influence of this Reformation insight from different perspectives.

The four booklets in this collection published by the Lutheran World Federation for the Reformation anniversary relate to the main theme Liberated by God’s Grace and three sub-themes: Salvation – Not for SaleHuman Beings – Not for Sale and Creation - Not For Sale.

Salvation – Not for Sale

From where do people expect their salvation in this day and age and before which “institution” do they feel the need to justify themselves?

Human Beings – Not for Sale

The essays in this booklet explore different aspects of the notion that human beings cannot be regarded as commodities whose value can only be measured in terms of profit and offers interpretation of Lutheran anthropology, analysis of human trafficking and migration, as well as ideas for sustainable ways of living together.

Creation - Not for Sale

The essays in this booklet are designed to stimulate discussion on the reasons for unrelenting exploitation of the Earth’s natural resources and our response from a theological point of view.
