The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and the Catholic Church will jointly commemorate 500 years of the Reformation on 31 October in Lund and Malmö, Sweden, marking the first time in history that Catholics and Lutherans observe the anniversary together at a global level.

In preparation, LWF General Secretary Rev. Dr Martin Junge and Kurt Cardinal Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity have jointly written an article elaborating the background of the Joint Commemoration, milestones of the nearly 50 years of international dialogue between Lutherans and Catholics, and some new details on the event at the end of this month.
