“Coordination and Networking” is the theme of a symposium on work and faith, hosted by The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) on the occasion of International Labor Day marked globally on 1 May.
The meeting at the Ecumenical Center in Geneva today is the third in a series coordinated by the LWF Department for Theology and Public Witness (DTPW).
Speakers include scholars and theologians who will speak on key theoretical insights on coordination; religious and theological resources for coordination; best practices in coordination and democratizing collaboration in the global church.
“While we work as individuals every day, it is always helpful to realize that each person’s work is meant to contribute to the overall intended outcomes or results of the organization,” says Rev. Dr Kenneth Mtata, DTPW study secretary for Lutheran Theology and Practice, who coordinates the symposiums.
“Some deliberate coordination of this work is vital in order to reach this overall intended result, even though some results are achieved through ‘accidental contribution’,” Mtata added.
The inaugural LWF theological seminar on work from a faith perspective focused on the dignity of work. The presentations were compiled in the publication Dignity of Work – Theological and Interdisciplinary Perspectives in the LWF Documentation series.
