Aligning legislation to eliminate gender-based violence and reduce hunger
(LWI) - In a statement at the 54th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) shared essential recommendations for the Burundi government. These include aligning national legislation with the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, addressing violence and discrimination against women, improving obstetric care through the addition of more midwives, and increasing the budget for agriculture to support women farmers and reduce hunger.
The LWF encouraged partners and civil society in Burundi to continue supporting the process, ensuring the successful realization of the UPR recommendations.
