(LWI) - The 50th Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) started this week, The Action for Justice unit leads the Lutheran World Federations’ (LWF) advocacy work at the sessions, connecting local communities to global platforms by facilitating the presentation of oral statements by member churches and country programs.
During this session of the HRC, LWF will have a specific focus on human rights and climate change as well as the human rights situation of violence against women. LWF's member churches in Iceland and Zimbabwe are contributing to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) adoption sessions, while the respective country programs will contribute to the sessions for South Sudan and Uganda.

The UPR engagement has proven time and again that we are able to achieve a meaningful outcome towards these desired changes.”
LWF's Action for Justice uses a local to global to local methodology where advocacy is conducted at the global level feeding back into advocacy efforts at the national and local levels and generating a more wholistic impact on the lives of the communities LWF serves.
