Strong skills and deep commitment to the AVH
(LWI) – Dr. Fadi Atrash has been appointed to the position of CEO of the LWF Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH) in East Jerusalem. Dr. Atrash has been acting CEO of the hospital over the past nine months. Prior to that, he led the hospital’s radiation department.
The appointment follows a competitive recruitment process facilitated by a global Leadership Advisory Firm.
„We are delighted to announce this appointment. Dr Fadi brings strong experience and skills to the hospital as well as a compelling vision for the AVH as an integral part of the healthcare system in Palestine,” said Sieglinde Weinbrenner, LWF Representative in Jerusalem.
“Dr Fadi stepped in to lead the hospital during a crucial time for the AVH. He has shown leadership and deep commitment to the AVH and the communities it serves. The LWF is confident that Dr Fadi will continue to lead the AVH in fulfilling its mission through the coming years.” said Maria Immonen, Director of LWF World Service.
The Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem was set up after the 1948 war, in partnership with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), as a medical facility to respond to the needs of thousands of Palestinian refugees. Over the past decade, it has developed into a highly specialized institute of medical excellence, serving all 5 million Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
AVH offers specialized care not available in other hospitals in the West Bank and Gaza, including radiation therapy for cancer patients and pediatric hemodialysis. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission International for its outstanding quality.
