Nicaragua Church shares video prayers during quarantine to strengthen unity
(LWI) - When churches are unable to meet in-person for worship to help contain the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, The Nicaraguan Lutheran Church of Faith and Hope (ILFE) has committed to share short prayer videos online for 40 days.
ILFE launched the “Quarantine of Prayers” campaign to strengthen the faith and unity of churches during times of self-isolation. Each day a prayer is offered for an LWF member church in Latin America and the Caribbean, for partners of the ILFE, and for the countries where these churches live and work.
"Despite the crisis we are experiencing, there is always a way to show the love of God to our brothers and sisters," said Rev. Claudia Soliette López Ortega of ILFE in the first prayer for Costa Rica and for the Lutheran Costa Rican Church (ILCO).
Rev. Ortega said that the quarantine "has shown us that we must always be open to transformation and we must seek new means and new ways of being united as brothers and sisters in Christ.”
The campaign continues through May 24, 2020, features ILFE Bishop Victoria Cortez and members of the church, including leaders of women’s groups, men’s groups, pastors, lay leaders, youth leaders and catechism students.
