Part 27 : Bible Study 2 Kings 4, 1 - 7 "Allies".

Rev. Angela Trejo Haager of the Mexican Lutheran Church (ILM) offers the first Bible study of the Women and Gender Justice Network based on an analysis of an emergency situation of food and political crisis. It analyses the lending system in order to affirm solidarity solutions to the crisis. The key theme of being allies is based on God's loving and supportive action.

Part 26: Bible study 20, 1-16 "Friend, I am not doing you any injustice".

Rev. Ofelia Davila Llimpe of the Lutheran Church of Peru (IL-P) analyses the parable of the vineyard workers, which offers an illustration of a different principle about the kingdom of heaven where some of the vineyard workers disagree with the payment received and it is to them that the main character the owner of the vineyard responds by arguing that he has made a fair payment, because that was the initial deal between the two. Thus, it shows that the kingdom of heaven has been taking place for a long time and is still taking place now, where God shows his goodness.

Part 25: Bible Study Mark 7. 24 -30 "To think about Mother's Day".

Many countries around the world will celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday 10 May. This paper by Dr Marcia Blasi of the Evangelical Church of the Lutheran Confession in Brazil (IECLB) helps to reflect on the theme in a context where the coronavirus pandemic has changed people and their lifestyles around the world.

Part 24: Bible Study Luke 10, 38 - 42: Today Marta and Mary invite us to visit their home!

At the time of Jesus the place of the woman was totally regulated, within her house and at the service of the man (father, brother, husband). The Gospel of Luke relates extensively the image of the Jewish woman dominated by the house, the state and the temple, although at the same time it brings to the scene the prophetess, the impure, the foreigner. In the world of the New Testament nothing is so linear, nor is it really simple to interpret. 

Part 23: Bible Study Luke 10, 25 - 37: "The Good Samaritan"

We cannot be neutral! The proposal of Jesus to solidarity is the reflection of Rev. Karen Ninnette Castillo of the Augustinian Lutheran Church of Guatemala (ILAG) as she studies the text of Luke 10, 25 - 37 in which the story of the Good Samaritan is told. Rev. Castillo's approach is based on solidarity as a bond of encounter with others.

Part 22: Bible Study, Silence: A critical reflection on Genesis 12, 10 - 20

Rev. Karla Steilmann of the Evangelical Church of the River Plate (IERP) reflects on the story of Abraham and Sarai, which she considers to be "nothing unusual", being "simply the story of a husband and wife seeking to survive in difficult times".

Part 21: Bible study Matthew 15, 21 - 28 in search of inclusion in times of pandemic.

Bible study on the story of an unnamed woman that can be found in the gospels of Matthew and Mark. The proposal of the Rev. Izani Bruch, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chile (IELCH), is to analyse it on the reality of the pandemic time, where in addition to the health crisis, in Latin America we can observe the increase of violence, racism, discrimination and hunger. The biblical study deals with a fundamental issue in the early community, namely the question of the place of the Gentiles or pagan people in the ministry of Jesus and in the community.

Part 20: Bible study on Luke 24, 13 - 35 "We are on our way".

Rev. Yamilka Hernandez Guzman of the United Evangelical Church of Cuba - Lutheran Synod (UIS-LS) analyses what she considers "a really dramatic situation experienced by these two disciples", who are returning home after the death of the one for whom they had left their security of their home to follow him. It was proving to be the worst walk of their lives, due to the accumulation of negative feelings within them. The cruelty of the events in Jerusalem had left them without explanation and without security.

Part 19: Bible study: "the light burden"

Rev. Liria Consuelo Preciado Naranjo of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Colombia (IELCO) analyses the dialogues of Jesus, comparing the heavy burdens that many current political and religious leaders place on the backs of men and women, with what the Pharisees contemporaries of Jesus did. In his analysis, he works on the situation suffered by the discriminated and oppressed of this time, with the burdens that those who were "led" by the Pharisees had to bear.
