Lutheran Hermeneutics and the Gospel of Matthew

Lutheran Hermeneutics and the Gospel of Matthew

3 Sep – 10 Sep 2014
Open to All

This conference is a third in a series of consultations aimed at creating space for a shared reading of the Bible among Lutheran scholars on the road to Reformation 2017. Such engagement across different contexts enables internal communication among members of the LWF.

Together the scholars will develop shared tools for biblical interpretation that contribute to the internal renewal of the church and prepare its members for participation in the public space. Shared biblical interpretation undergirds the churches’ meaningful and intentional engagement in social transformation.

The renowned Lutheran theologian, Timothy Wengert, will give a public lecture on "Matthew’s Gospel for the Reformation: 'The Messiah … Sent and Manifested.'"
