Peace Messengers training

Empowering youth to be peace multipliers in their communities

Hosted by LWF Youth, this will be the third training for youth in a leadership capacity in LWF’s member churches, since the Peace Messengers program was established in 2017. It is part of the Global Young Reformers Network’s focus on 2022 as the Year of Peace.

The training will pay attention to the intersection between peacebuilding and LWF Youth priorities and thematic areas: equity, education, revival of churches, climate justice, and gender justice. Topics will include understanding peace and conflict, conflict analysis and conflict resolution.

With the newly acquired skills, each trainee will be expected to set up and lead a small-scale peacebuilding project in their own church, supported by the LWF.

“In Christ, all things hold together”

The Lutheran World Federation's annual governance meeting takes place in Geneva from 9-14 June 2022.

On 8 June the LWF Executive Committee will meet and Pre-Council meetings for youth and women will take place.

The LWF Council meets once a year and is responsible for LWF business between Assemblies. It consists of:

the President
the Chairperson of the Finance Committee
48 lay or ordained people, from LWF member churches in seven regions.

Members of this Council were appointed at the 2017 Twelfth Assembly.

Meeting of the LWF Committee for Member Church Projects

Approve long-term grants for LWF member church projects

The LWF Committee for Member Church Projects meets annually to receive reports on projects implemented during the previous year and approve long-term projects that start the following year.

This year, 17 projects will be brought to the committee for approval. Small revisions will be proposed to the Policy for Member Church Projects, based on reflections on its implementation since it was first approved in 2020. The committee comprises LWF Council representatives, with members representing each of the seven LWF regions and related agencies that fund the projects.
