The Federation of Evangelical Lutheran Churches in Russia and Other States was established in 2011, replacing the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Russia and Other States (ELCROS), which joined the LWF in 1989. It brings together regional Lutheran churches in the former Soviet Union countries of Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, with a bishop heading each church. The ELCROS Federation is governed by a Bishops’ Conference.
