Communion Solidarity Fund

Churches together for rapid response

Churches often turn to the LWF when unforeseen or protracted developments like conflicts, natural disasters, public health concerns or other emergencies directly affect them and/or the wider communities.

In 2023, LWF launched the Communion Solidarity Fund to enable its member churches to help each other in providing rapid short-term response during unforeseen events. It is built on the model of church-to-church mutual solidarity which was particularly visible during the COVID-19 pandemic. During that period several member churches contributed toward short-term grants to nearly 200 projects by 90 member churches. These initiatives addressed the basic needs of the most vulnerable people, restoring their livelihoods and dignity, and putting them back on the path toward economic recovery and a future with hope.
