LWF delegation advocates for the most vulnerable people

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) advocates for climate justice with a strong focus on the implementation of the Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Climate change is a global reality. It is severely affecting the lives and livelihoods of thousands of people in many countries. The full and effective enjoyment of human rights is often adversely affected, with the most vulnerable people and biodiversity facing great risk.

The LWF delegation to the 29th United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP29) comprises church leaders—men, women and youth—from all continents, advocating for the most vulnerable people from a faith perspective. They join efforts with ecumenical and interfaith partners in online and face-to-face meetings.

Strengthening theological education and sharing resources

Theological education and formation are important tasks in all LWF member churches. The LWF network for Theological Education and Formation (TEF) facilitates exchange between different contexts, identifies shared theological and pedagogical challenges, and develops responses to such concerns. The network’s global steering group is made up of representatives from all LWF regions.

This will be the first in-person meeting of the steering group. It will focus on how to promote sharing and exchange of theological education resources and expertise among LWF member churches and theological institutions from 2025 to 2027. This will contribute to implementing the Thirteenth Assembly Resolution on strengthening theological education.
