Nurturing relations

The Office of the General Secretary has primary responsibility for nurturing and promoting communion relations and promoting Christian unity.

The Office of the General Secretary in the Communion Office of the LWF consists of the General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary for Ecumenical Relations, four Regional Secretaries, and administrative staff.

Its main functions are to

  • Nurture and promote communion relationships with and among LWF member churches as well as connect local concerns with global initiatives.
  • Promote Christian unity and ecumenical relations through research, dialogues, consultations, networking and visits.
  • Nurture and promote relationships and partnerships in matters concerning human rights and international affairs.
