For immediate release, 29 August 2025.
The United Nations has confirmed a man-made famine in Gaza. Months of blockades and war have denied food, medicine, and safety to the people of Gaza.
Calls for ceasefire from across the world have been met with defiance and attempts at mediation have been thwarted.
Palestinian civilians in Gaza are being starved and pushed to the edge. Sick and injured people are without access to necessary healthcare. The international mechanisms that were created to prevent such atrocities are systematically blocked.
This situation is untenable.
Patients in need of life saving treatment must be allowed to reach hospitals outside Gaza without delay, and people facing famine must receive the food and care they need.
The survival of the civilian population in Gaza is at stake.
The LWF calls on the people of Israel, on people of good will across the world, and on religious and political leaders, to take immediate action to stop the violence and atrocities, for the good of all the people of the Holy Land.
