As the full-scale war against Ukraine approaches its fourth year, the suffering of its people continues to intensify. The humanitarian crisis is deepening, with millions displaced and in urgent need of assistance. Yet, international funding is shrinking, leaving critical relief efforts under-funded.
Since May 2025, attacks on populated areas have intensified, killing and injuring civilians, destroying homes and vital infrastructure. In June alone, the UN recorded 1,575 civilian casualties, which is the highest monthly toll in three years.
The UN reports that 12.7 million people in Ukraine, require humanitarian assistance. There are also nearly 7 million Ukrainian refugees who have fled the country in search of safety. Whether in Ukraine or in refuge, their needs and protection must be a priority.
Russia’s war against Ukraine must stop. The world cannot look away as millions suffer. International law must be upheld, ensuring accountability and guaranteeing the safety of civilians.
LWF calls on the international community to act decisively to facilitate negotiations for peace with justice, and to ensure the protection of civilians and support those in need.
LWF also calls on churches and people of good faith to be steadfast in prayer and tireless in advocacy, until peace with justice prevails in Ukraine.
