First National Men’s Assembly provided space to strengthen commitment to ministry

(LWI) - 2025 has been a significant year in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana (ELCG). The first ever National Men’s Assembly focused on the active involvement of men in the life of the church.

ELCG treasurer, Mr Michael Ram reflected on the historic event held in autumn. One of the highlights, he said, was the joy of seeing so many men gathered together, sharing a space of trust where they could freely express their concerns, experiences and testimonies of faith.

“The atmosphere of fellowship and the opportunity to talk openly about their lives and their Christian commitment was experienced as a true gift,” he said.

The event in October brought together around 115 people including 80 men at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Guyana’s port city of New Amsterdam. It started with a worship service and continued with a program focused on dialogue, reflection, and discussion on men’s active participation in the ELCG.

Participants also shared what could be improved in the future including: strengthening communication, allowing more time for fellowship and reflection, adding activities that help to deepen bonds, and possibly extending the Assembly to two days or holding it more frequently.

"I pray that we will continue to grow stronger in faith and in our witness," Ram added.
