Strengthening the bonds between our communions

(LWI) – The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has extended warm congratulations to Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock on his election as the new General Secretary of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC).

In a letter, LWF General Secretary Rev. Dr Anne Burghardt praised God for Peacock’s election and wished him “strength and insight” as he takes up the leadership of the global communion. She underlined the long-standing ties between the two communions, recalling the Wittenberg Witness from 2017, which affirms the shared calling of the two communions “to dream a different world, a world where justice, peace and reconciliation prevail.”

Burghardt expressed appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the two communions and emphasized that the LWF staff and member churches accompany the new general secretary in prayer during this transition and as the WCRC prepares for its General Council in October.

The LWF looks forward to strengthening the bonds between our communions, Burghardt said.
