LWF condemns violence against civilians, reaffirms call for peace

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) unequivocally condemns all violence against civilians, without exception. This includes the atrocities committed by Hamas on 7 October, as well as the use of military force in ways that have endangered the civilian population in Gaza.

LWF rejects the targeting of civilians and collective punishment. LWF affirms the inherent dignity of every human being and the obligation, under international humanitarian law, to always protect civilian life.

Consistent with its long-standing position, LWF calls for unhindered humanitarian access, respect for international law, and renewed efforts toward a just and lasting peace for all people in the region.
