LWF and partners invite to online prayer service

(LWI) - Christians are called to pray and advocate for peace. In a global context where war and violence abound the practice of peace has become even more urgent.

The war in Ukraine has entered its second year, simultaneously escalating violence in Palestine, continuing military exercises threatening peace on the Korean peninsula, state violence in Myanmar, a fragile situation in Ethiopia and war in several other parts of the world threaten peace.

They shall beat their swords into plowshares

    and their spears into pruning hooks;

nation shall not lift up sword against nation;

    neither shall they learn war any more.

(Isaiah 2:4)

On 22 March Christians worldwide are calling for a global prayer for peace and will be jointly hosting an online prayer service at 15:00 CET.

The Lutheran World Federation, The Baptist World Alliance, The Mennonite World Conference, World Methodist Council, the Conference of European Churches, World Communion of Reformed Churches, and the World Council of Churches are joining hands for the event which will gather Christians from countries all over the world and unite them in prayer and hope.
