LWF publishes Be My Witnesses and Standing with Communities in Times of Crisis
(LWI) - The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has released its 2025 Annual Report, Be My Witnesses, alongside the World Service Annual Report, For Hope and a Future: Standing with Communities in Times of Crisis.
Be My Witnesses brings inspiring stories of the tireless work of individuals and communities, and their commitment to witness and service during a year of challenges across the globe. As the first annual report to be aligned to the new LWF Strategy 2025-2031, it demonstrates how LWF’s strategic priorities come to life during a year marked by tremendous upheaval and how Lutherans across the communion proclaimed, advocated, served and lived out their call to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
The report highlights LWF’s work of strengthening communion among its member churches through leadership development and theological reflection, as well as ongoing engagement in international ecumenical dialogue to build Christian unity. Through diaconal work and advocacy for justice and human rights, LWF supported churches and communities to respond to various challenges in their local contexts and link their work to global policies.
For Hope and a Future: Standing with Communities in Times of Crisis serves as a testament to the agility, adaptability and resilience of World Service, LWF’s humanitarian and development arm, during a year which was disrupted by repeated shocks to the global aid sector.

Through its country programs and emergency responses, World Service continued to support populations displaced by conflict and disasters, including in hard-to-reach areas. As conflicts escalated and spread in places such as East Africa, Middle East, Haiti and Ukraine, LWF responded and supported the provision of quality services, protection and social cohesion and climate resilient livelihoods. Millions of girls and boys, women and men, received appropriate assistance and support to make choices impacting their lives.
