French artist depicts the world shaped by Christ’s birth
(LWI) – Christmas is a call to love, and an invitation to experience the world shaped by the joy of Christ’s birth. The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) shares this message through its 2025 Christmas card.
The card is a colorful painting by French artist Jean-Paul Gaulier on behalf of the Union of Protestant Churches of Alsace and Lorraine (UEPAL). “Amour”, the French word for love stands out, draped around the images of Mary, Joseph and Jesus.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all...
Titus 2:11
In this season of anticipating the Christ child, the LWF shares this image alongside the biblical verse, “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all (Titus 2:11).”
Every year, the LWF invites member churches to contribute a design for the Christmas card. The 2024 card was by graphic designer Tee Justine, a member of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria.
The UEPAL is one of the three LWF member churches in France.
