SIDE EVENT: “Borderless Justice: Advancing Freedom of Movement for Forcibly Displaced Persons in the East and Horn of Africa.”
The event aims to advance the discussion on freedom of movement as both a right for forcibly displaced persons in the East and Horn of Africa, by amplifying their voices, influencing policy and legal reform, and promoting dignity, inclusion, and durable solutions. It provides a platform for forcibly displaced persons to articulate concerns on freedom of movement and its impact on justice, livelihoods, legal identity, and regional integration. Speakers are refugee representatives from Ethiopia, Uganda, South Sudan and Kenya as well as the AU Special Rapporteur on Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Internally Displaced Persons, and Migrants in Africa.
