Towards True Gender Equality 1995-2025
Webinar to launch LWF gender justice publication
The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), with its decades-long commitment to gender justice and women’s empowerment, brings voices from the church, civil society, and grassroots communities to reflect on progress since the 1995 UN Women’s Conference, which culminated in the groundbreaking Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (BPfA).
This event, which takes place on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, will officially launch LWF ‘s Beijing+30 publication. It will celebrate the 30-year legacy of Beijing, examining key successes as well as the structural and emerging barriers to achieving gender justice. The event will also highlight the LWF’s role as a key stakeholder, highlighting promising practices from member churches and country programs, while calling for renewed action.
Reflections by gender justice advocates will link local gender justice efforts to global action and to theological principles. The reflections will offer recommendations to the international community, member states and UN agencies, to move faster in their implementation of the BPfA, and to see LWF as a vital partner in this work.
