Good Friday. “What is good about this day full of pain, suffering, and death?” Bavarian church leader Oberkirchenrat (retired) Michael Martin asks. It is the solidarity of Jesus with all who suffer, not as a distant figure but as one who knows us and bears our burdens. This nearness in the midst of darkness makes the day “good” as believers are assured that God is present, offering strength, courage, and guidance toward life and peace.
