What We Do

Working with and for churches

The LWF works with and for member churches, supporting them to proclaim the gospel, serve people in need and advocate for peace, justice and reconciliation. Our three institutional programs - building the communion, improving capacity for Diakonia (serving people in need), and promoting church growth and sustainability - are designed to help the church reach its potential as an agent of change rooted in the communities it serves. The LWF's flagship program in Africa is a wide-ranging series of initiatives that address the most pressing social and economic concerns. The work of the Africa communion is guided by its undertaking to help churches work together on God’s mission in Africa, shaping its approach according to the context of the country.
