Department for World Service

DWS Geneva

The Department for World Service (DWS) is one of three LWF departments within the LWF secretariat. The DWS global system of humanitarian response and sustainable development is facilitated by approximately 60 international staff in key country programs, 5,800 local staff members and consultants, and 16 staff within DWS Geneva.

The DWS organization and staff at the Geneva secretariat provide the infrastructure and contacts to enable planning, coordination and accountability for the effective and efficient program management of humanitarian and development work.

On behalf of the partnership network and local communities, the functions of DWS Geneva include the formulation of policy and strategic direction for approval by the Standing Committee for World Service (SCWS); overall management, administration, quality assurance and fundraising in relation to the country programs; and coordination of efforts in five designated focus areas, as follows:

In relation to the country programs, an international staff member (Field Representative) heads each program, and DWS Geneva staff carry assigned responsibilities for direct liaison with each program.
